Last updated: October 2026

Michael Black Wedding is a wedding videography and photography business based in Dublin, Ireland, run by Michael Black. This policy explains what personal data I collect through this website and my services, why I use it and the choices you have. I follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts.

Who I am

Michael Black Wedding is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can contact me about privacy at hello@michaelblackwedding.com or on +353 86 890 7117.

What I collect

Enquiries: when you use my contact form or email me, I receive the details you share, such as your names, email address, phone number, wedding date, venue and message.

Bookings: if you book me, I also keep the details needed for your contract, payments, our Zoom consultations, your wedding questionnaire and the planning of your wedding day.

Your wedding films and photos: I create video and images of your wedding as part of the service you book.

Website data: this website is hosted by Squarespace, which may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser, device and the pages you visit. Non-essential cookies are only used if you accept them in the cookie banner.

How I use your data

I use your data to reply to your enquiry and check my availability, to prepare and carry out your booking, to deliver your wedding film and photos, to keep business and tax records, and to understand how my website is used so I can improve it. I only share films or photos from your wedding on my website, blog or social media with your permission.

Legal basis

I process your data to take steps towards and perform a contract with you, to meet my legal obligations, on the basis of my legitimate interests in running and improving my business, and with your consent where consent is required (for example for non-essential cookies or featuring your wedding). You can withdraw your consent at any time.

Who I share it with

I never sell your personal data. I only share it with trusted providers who help me run my business, such as my website host (Squarespace), email, video conferencing (Zoom), online gallery and film delivery services, and my accountant. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, in which case appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses apply.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiry details for as long as I need them to reply and follow up with you. Client records are kept for as long as Irish tax and accounting law requires. Films and photos are archived for a limited time after delivery so I can help if you lose your copies, so please keep your own backups.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, email me at hello@michaelblackwedding.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission in Ireland (www.dataprotection.ie).

Cookies

You can change your cookie choices at any time using the Cookie Preferences link on this website or in your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
