Seafield Hotel wedding film – Ciara & Andrew, Gorey, Co. Wexford
A wedding at Seafield Hotel & Spa, Co. Wexford
Ciara and Andrew were married at St. Michael’s Church in Gorey and celebrated at Seafield Hotel & Spa in Ballymoney, Co. Wexford – a contemporary resort right beside Ballymoney Beach. With sunshine over the Irish Sea, bridesmaids in powder blue, bouquets of blue hydrangeas and a bride who could not stop smiling, it was a relaxed and joyful seaside wedding.
As their wedding videographer, I spent the day with them, from the first moments of getting ready to the grand entrance at dinner. Here is a look at their Seafield Hotel wedding – and a few ideas if you are planning your own wedding in Wexford.
About Seafield Hotel & Spa
Seafield Hotel & Spa Resort sits in 160 acres of parkland at Ballymoney, near Gorey, about an hour from Dublin. Designed by Italian architect Francesco Beia, the hotel has a contemporary look and sea views, with the Oceo Spa and its outdoor vitality pool, gardens by Diarmuid Gavin and – best of all for photos and film – Ballymoney Beach right on the doorstep.
Getting ready at Seafield
Ciara and Andrew both got ready at the hotel. Ciara’s satin gown and veil hung in the window on personalised hangers while her bridesmaids, in powder-blue dresses, had their hair styled. There was plenty of laughter as the girls fastened the long row of buttons down the back of her dress – and one long, warm hug before she left for the church. Andrew, in a navy three-piece suit and a silver floral tie, helped the page boy with his jacket and shared a few laughs with his groomsmen.
A ceremony at St. Michael’s Church, Gorey
The ceremony took place at St. Michael’s Church in Gorey, a Romanesque-revival church designed by Augustus Pugin and dedicated in 1843, with round-headed windows and beautiful stained glass. Ciara and Andrew lit a unity candle together at the altar, framed by blue hydrangeas and gypsophila – and Ciara’s face as they walked back down the aisle to applause said it all.
Portraits on Ballymoney Beach and a celebration at Seafield
Back at Seafield, we walked down to Ballymoney Beach for portraits. The sun was out, the sea breeze caught Ciara’s veil and hair, and the two of them walked arm in arm along the shoreline while the drone followed from above. The bridesmaids gathered with their blue hydrangea and white rose bouquets with the sea behind them, and the groomsmen put on their sunglasses for a shot of their own. At the reception, the grand entrance set the tone for the night – Ciara raised her bouquet in the air as the wedding party waved their napkins above their heads.
Planning a Seafield Hotel wedding? A few tips
Make time for the beach. Ballymoney Beach is right beside the hotel – even twenty minutes there gives you relaxed, natural portraits and beautiful drone shots of the coastline.
Plan for the sea breeze. Wind makes veils and hair look wonderful on film, but bring a few spare hairpins for the walk down to the sand.
Get ready on site. With both of you getting ready at the hotel, there is less travelling on the morning and more time for the moments that matter.
Choose colours that suit the sea. Ciara’s powder blue and blue hydrangea palette looked perfect against the Wexford coast.
