Farnham Estate Wedding: Jennie and Craig’s Day in Co. Cavan
Farnham Estate wedding film – Jennie & Craig, Cavan
A Farnham Estate wedding in Co. Cavan
Jennie and Craig celebrated their wedding at Farnham Estate, just outside Cavan town – a day that was elegant, emotional and full of the people they love most. From a champagne-filled morning with the bridesmaids to a gazebo ceremony on the lawn and quiet portraits by the lake, every moment felt completely them.
As their wedding videographer, I filmed the whole day. Here is a look at their Farnham Estate wedding – and a few ideas if you are planning your own.
About Farnham Estate
Surrounded by woodland and lakes, Farnham Estate was for centuries the home of the Maxwell family, later the Earls of Farnham. The house was first built around 1700 and rebuilt in the early 19th century by the architect Francis Johnston. Today it is a spa and golf resort, and one of the best-known wedding venues in Co. Cavan.
A morning full of family
Jennie’s dress hung in the window, catching the soft morning light, while her bridesmaids filled the room with laughter in matching pyjamas. There were hugs with the youngest members of the family, a champagne toast straight from the bottle and, finally, the moment her dad opened the door and saw his daughter as a bride for the first time.
A gazebo ceremony on the lawn
Jennie and Craig said their vows in the white gazebo on the lawn at Farnham Estate, surrounded by their family and friends in black tie. Little flower girls with baskets of gypsophila sat with their grandparents, and when the newlyweds walked back down the aisle hand in hand, the whole lawn broke into applause.
Lakeside portraits and Georgian interiors
After the ceremony we took Jennie and Craig down to the edge of the lake for a few quiet minutes away from the crowd. Then it was back inside the historic house – an antique chaise, tall Georgian windows and the sweeping staircase, filmed from above as they looked up together. Later in the evening, Event Band and Club D’Lux took over the music.
Planning a Farnham Estate wedding? A few tips
Say your vows in the gazebo. The white gazebo on the lawn is one of the prettiest outdoor ceremony spots in Cavan – just keep an indoor plan ready for the Irish weather.
Leave time for the lake. Ten or fifteen minutes by the water gives you calm, natural portraits away from the crowd.
Use the historic interiors. The staircase and the Georgian rooms are perfect for portraits on a rainy day, or for a quiet moment together after the ceremony.
