Crover House Hotel Wedding: Emma and Damien’s Day on Lough Sheelin

Crover House Hotel wedding film – Emma & Damien, Lough Sheelin, Co. Cavan

A Crover House Hotel wedding on Lough Sheelin

Emma and Damien celebrated their wedding at Crover House Hotel – a four-star country house hotel and golf club on the shores of Lough Sheelin, near Mountnugent in Co. Cavan. With manicured lawns, colourful gardens and the lake just a short walk away, it is a venue where the whole day can unfold in one beautiful place.

As their wedding videographer, I spent the day with them from the first glass of prosecco to the confetti and the evening celebrations. Here is a look at their Crover House wedding – and a few ideas if you are planning your own.

Getting ready at Crover House

The morning started at the hotel with Emma and her girls in matching blush satin pyjamas, a bottle of prosecco and a lot of laughter. Amy styled Emma's soft vintage waves and Emma did her make-up, while the 'Bride to be' heart sunglasses made a well-timed appearance between toasts.

An outdoor ceremony on the lawns

Emma and Damien said their vows outdoors on the lawns of Crover House, with family and friends seated on the grass and the white, ivy-covered hotel behind them. The first kiss – Emma's hands on Damien's face while everyone clapped – is one of my favourite moments in their film.

Portraits by Lough Sheelin

After the ceremony we slipped away to the shore of Lough Sheelin. Under a soft Cavan sky, with Emma's long pearl-studded veil and Damien in his black velvet tuxedo jacket, the lake gave us a calm, open backdrop. A few quiet frames among the trees, with the sunlight falling through her veil, finished the portraits.

Confetti and celebrations

Back at the hotel, family and friends lined up outside the ivy-framed doors for a confetti exit, and Emma and Damien walked through it with the little page boy and flower girl right beside them. Then it was photos on the lawn with the bridesmaids in blush pink, before Catch 22 got the evening party started.

Planning a Crover House Hotel wedding? A few tips

Make the most of the lake. Lough Sheelin is right on the doorstep – leave 20–30 minutes in your timeline for portraits by the water.

Think about an outdoor ceremony. The lawns in front of the hotel are a beautiful setting for vows on a dry day – just keep an indoor plan ready, as the Irish weather always has a say.

Plan your getting-ready room. Soft window light and a little space make a big difference to how your morning looks in photos and film.
