A Kilronan Castle wedding in Co. Roscommon
Reiltin and Caomhan got married at Kilronan Castle, near Ballyfarnon in Co. Roscommon – and it was one of those days that felt warm and personal from the very first moment. As their wedding videographer, I spent the day with them, from the quiet morning preparations inside the castle to the last portraits on the lawn.

Getting ready inside the castle
The morning started indoors, among the dark wood panelling, stained-glass windows and crystal chandeliers that make Kilronan Castle so special. Before anything else, Reiltin’s dress was hung beneath one of those chandeliers – one of my favourite details of the whole day.
Her bridesmaid helped with the final touches, fastening the delicate cuffs of the dress’s sheer sleeves, while the bouquet waited nearby: soft pink peonies and roses, lilac stocks, baby’s breath and long trails of ivy – loose, romantic and full of colour.
Out on the castle grounds
The sky was soft and grey and a few raindrops landed on the Kilronan Castle sign, but nobody minded. We walked the wide lawn in front of the castle’s stone tower, where the veil caught the wind and Caomhan stole a forehead kiss – exactly the kind of natural, unposed moments I look for when filming a wedding.
Quiet moments in the castle library
When the weather turns – and in Ireland it often does – Kilronan Castle has plenty of beautiful spaces indoors. The wood-panelled library, with its leather armchairs and softly lit bookshelves, was perfect for a few calm, close moments away from the crowd.
To finish, I played with the castle itself: a mirrored, upside-down reflection of Kilronan Castle above Reiltin and Caomhan walking hand in hand across the lawn. It is the kind of creative frame I love making when a venue has architecture this striking.
Planning a Kilronan Castle wedding? A few tips
Leave time for the grounds. The open lawn in front of the castle gives you a lot of variety in a short time – even 20–30 minutes of portraits goes a long way.
Have a plan for rain. The library, the panelled rooms and the stained-glass windows look beautiful in soft light, so a grey Irish day is nothing to worry about.
Think about the details. Your dress, bouquet and accessories look stunning against the castle interiors – both in photos and on film.
